A chair for comfort, sustainability, and utility Made from sustainable plywood and recycled metals, the MCC is a modern take on organic form designs of the 50’s.
Modern design with practical applications
Flexible manufacturability to keep the production costs down.
Although intended for commercial use, the MCC is perfect for home-use. The organic shape creates back support, assisting posture correction. The curved design contorts to your body, while gently encouraging you into a natural upright position.
Featuring a sturdy design, the MCC is durable and ready for your outdoor escapade. With durable hardware, and an open design, MCC is suitable for many body types. Alternative layouts allows for adaptation to any height.
The Eames Fiberglass Chair, a simple take on elegant chair design. This chair was so popular at one point, that it transcended stardom into the humdrum of daily life. This chair was so revolutionary, that it became ubiquitous to the American consumer. In this project, I wanted to highlight the simplicity and elegance of this historic design; however, incorporating a somewhat modern motif of environmentalism through the use of sustainable materials such as plywood and reclaimed metal legs.
2D cuts in manufacturing generally take much less time than 3D cuts, in order to produce the most efficient manufacturing process the focus of the design was primarily in modeling. I decided to go for a layered design, due to the nature of the tools for this project. Focusing on a less complicated assembly process, I wanted to a create a design that primarily relied on the tools of this project
